The Gretl Bauer Adult Education Center has a new managing director.

Christian Winklmeier wants to master the balancing act between digitization and more presence offers.

And he also keeps an eye on the educational mandate for young people.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- Christian Winklmeier has been in office since October. He succeeds Silvia Reinschmiedt, who left the adult education center at her own request. "We are convinced that we made the right choice with him," said Mayor Erich Raff when introducing the new boss. The situation at the adult education center is not rosy because of the effects of the corona pandemic. "But we are well positioned," emphasized Raff.

The corona pandemic and the uncertain future are some of the topics that Winklmeier already knows from his previous work as assistant to the VHS management in Gilching.

“That's how I learned how important adult education is - and social contact,” he says.

That is why the presence offer of the adult education center will have to continue to be the focus.

Online offers - which have proven themselves in the pandemic - should, however, be retained.

Two-track driving will be necessary in view of the Free State's plans, emphasized Winklmeier.

Because this wants to reduce the number of adult education centers in order to create more efficient facilities.

"In Fürstenfeldbruck we will feel that too," he is sure.

That is why one will also have to look for cooperation with other adult education centers.

The new managing director cannot yet say in what form and with whom this should be done.

“I don't want to pre-empt anyone.” A relaxed collaboration - for example on courses - is just as possible as a merger.

The 30-year-old is well aware of the political dimension.

After all, he sits on the Gilching local council as the SPD parliamentary group leader.

In addition, Winklmeier and his team want to bridge the gap between adult education and the training of young people.

In doing so, he draws on experience.

Because he organized two training fairs in Marktoberdorf and recognized that companies value a wide range of training opportunities.

The new managing director draws two conclusions from this: “We as a community college should make a contribution to lifelong learning.” In addition, more offers must also be tailored to younger citizens.

The team at the educational institution in the major district town is open to new ideas.

According to his own statement, Christian Winklmeier noticed this in initial discussions.

This also includes flexible business hours and information channels via social networks.

"We have to keep our service and our courses close to people."
