Ido Eshed announced today (Wednesday) to the Walla Board of Directors that he wishes to resign from his position as CEO of the company. Before serving as CEO of Walla for many years, Eshed served as senior vice president and managed all of the site's product activities, which is considered one of the first on the Israeli Internet.
Eshed was one of the first designers of the Walla website, back in the 1990s, and is considered one of the founders of the Internet in Israel. Over the years he was a partner in the transition, making Walla Portal a leading content site. During his tenure as CEO, Walla went from a loss to a profit - and was later successfully sold to the Jerusalem Post. Eshed is the last of the founders of the largest website in Israel to retire from Walla.
Eshed said today: "Walla was a home for me in the full sense of the word. As CEO, I received the company with a challenging timing and we succeeded in all the goals we set for ourselves: selling the company while maintaining Walla as the leading site on the Israeli Internet.
I look at the company I leave with pride.
I thank all the employees of the company for its generations. "
