More fans in the stadium, mulled wine and lard cake at the Christmas market - this is possible in Lower Saxony.

The easing already apply on Friday.

Hanover - people in Lower Saxony can prepare for Christmas markets. The state government initiated a corresponding change to the Corona state ordinance on Thursday, and it should come into force on Friday, as the State Chancellery announced. If you want to eat or drink something at an autumn or Christmas market, you have to be vaccinated, recovered or tested. According to the information, this also applies to the use of rides. According to the information, children and adolescents under the age of 18 do not need to be vaccinated, recovered or tested. This also applies to people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

There are several options for the operators of Christmas markets to check the status of those vaccinated, recovered or tested. The area of a Christmas market can therefore be provided with central entrances and exits, where this is controlled. Ribbons or stamps, which visitors can pick up at a stand, may also suffice as such proof. As a third option, checks must be carried out directly at the stands. However, if someone buys drinks or something to eat for several people, everyone has to prove that they have been vaccinated, recovered or tested. If the highest corona warning level should be reached, the so-called 2G regulation becomes mandatory. Then a negative test would no longer be sufficient.

The stands must be at least two meters apart, but exceptions are possible. Food or drink may not be sold in stalls that are closed on all sides. Most people who stroll through the market do not have to wear a mask; this is provided for in toilet vehicles, for example.

“In order to minimize the risk of infection, we provide clear guard rails with the 3G rule.

At the same time, we enable local municipalities to make flexible and situation-adapted regulations, for example with regard to the distances between the stands or the question of monitoring visitors, ”said Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) on Thursday.

These aspects should certainly be assessed and organized differently at a small Christmas market in rural areas than at markets in metropolitan areas with thousands of visitors a day.

Schleswig-Holstein's students can also have themselves tested for Corona free of charge during the autumn holidays (October 4 to 16).

That goes in the test centers, but if necessary schools also provide test kits before the holidays, said Education Minister Karin Prien (CDU) on Thursday.

"The self-assessment after a negative Corona self-test then applies to schoolchildren like a test certificate from the test center."

Dehoga: New Corona rules give hospitality back freedom

After many difficult months due to the Corona restrictions, the operators of restaurants, cafés and pubs in Rhineland-Palatinate can breathe a sigh of relief again, according to industry information.

The main reasons for this are the elimination of many requirements for the catering trade, the prospect of permanent opening and the regained flexibility for the individual companies, such as the President of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Gereon Haumann, the German press Agency said.

2G in Hamburger Kiez: "Finally dancing and drinking again"

The Hamburg neighborhood pulsates again.

Party-goers roam the pubs.

Although the 2G option model, which has been in place for three weeks, has met with great approval, there are moral doubts as well as hostility.

2G in Hamburger Kiez: "Finally dancing and drinking again"

“It is good that the state government has listened to the criticism and that the first, completely impractical proposal is off the table.

But the new version also has weaknesses.

For example, we do not consider it necessary to prescribe 3G nationwide, ”said the health policy spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group, Susanne Schütz.

Every city has completely different requirements and implements an individual concept.

The Greens welcomed the decision in principle. However, the state government is making it too easy for itself if it leaves all the difficult requirements to the municipalities and the operators of the stands, said Meta Janssen-Kucz, health policy spokeswoman for the Green Group. "The option that evidence of corona vaccination, recovery or tests in the crowd can be checked directly at the stands does not seem realistic."

There was good news on Thursday not only for Christmas markets, but also for organizers and especially football clubs.

If only vaccinated and convalescent people get access to an event, the visitor limit in the state will fall from Friday.

So far, the limit was 25,000 spectators.

If, for example, a football club only lets people vaccinated against the coronavirus or from a Covid-19 infection into its stadium, more than 25,000 fans are allowed to enter the stadium again.

In Lower Saxony, for example, the stadiums of VfL Wolfsburg and Hanover 96 have corresponding sizes.

Anyone under the age of 18 or who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons can still attend the event.
