The police have evacuated the town hall of Rathenow (Havelland district) because of a threat that there should be an explosive device in the building. The suspicion was not confirmed, however, the police gave the all-clear after a search of the town hall with explosives search dogs on Thursday morning, as the city announced. The police secured traces and, according to their own statements, started investigations into disturbing the public peace by threatening to commit crimes.

As a result, the building and surrounding streets were cordoned off.
Administration employees were able to return to their workplaces after the search ended without finding around 11.20 a.m. and the building was released again, according to the police.
On Friday, the administration could be reached again as usual, the city said.
