Bonn - Following the prices for parcels, Deutsche Post is now also increasing the postage for letters.
Sending a standard domestic letter will cost 85 cents from January, 5 cents more than before, as the Deutsche Post announced on Wednesday in Bonn.
Other letter products are also expected to be 5 cents more expensive, such as the maxi letter.
The company justified this with higher costs.
Most recently, the Post increased postage in mid-2019, when a standard letter went up by 10 cents to 80 cents.

The Federal Network Agency had previously published a scope for price increases on Wednesday, on the basis of which the post may increase the postage.
Said scope for increases is 4.6 percent - the shopping cart for all types of letters may become more expensive by this percentage amount.
The value is relatively low, with the postage increase in 2019 it was 8.9 percent.
Shortly afterwards, Swiss Post announced how it wanted to use the leeway.
The network agency will now check whether the planned postage increases are within the scope.
