Essen - After the violent death of a baby from Essen, the child's father was sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday.
The 25-year-old defendant had admitted in the trial at the Essen regional court to have mistreated the baby.
The doctors had diagnosed severe head trauma with massive bleeding.
The skull and many other bones were broken.

40 years after the crime against the schoolgirl Ursula Herrmann in Upper Bavaria, the case is still preoccupying the Augsburg public prosecutor.
The authority has been reviewing an alleged letter of confession since the end of 2020.
The document will continue to be evaluated and examined for traces, said Chief Public Prosecutor Andreas Dobler.

After a young boy's fatal bathtub accident, the parents were each sentenced to six months' probation.
The district court of Berlin-Tiergarten found the 44-year-old mother and the 47-year-old father guilty of negligent homicide on Wednesday.
The accused had left the three-and-a-half-year-old severely disabled child unattended while bathing for at least 15 minutes, the judge said.

The little boy died in hospital ten days after the crime.
He was eight weeks old.
In the trial at the Essen regional court, the defendant, who came from Nigeria, had spoken of excessive demands.
The baby's mother was not home at the time of the crime.
A statement read out by defense attorney Nikolai Odebralski said: “I have failed terribly as a person and as a father.
My child is dead - and it's my fault. ”The defendant did not say what exactly happened.
The verdict is manslaughter.
