Lower Saxony presented itself with a happy review on its 75th birthday in Berlin.
Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) welcomed the “fan curve of the most beautiful of the 16 federal states” on Thursday in the state representation in the government district.
The guests included Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil, the Brandenburg head of government Dietmar Woidke (both SPD) and the Berlin SPD leader Franziska Giffey.
Berlin - In terms of music, artists from Lower Saxony played the evening, from singer Denise M'Baye to satirist Dietmar Wischmeyer.
They created new versions of the well-known "Lied der Niedersachsen".
"We are Lower Saxony, as stable as tractor axles", Wischmeyer rhymed as "Günther the tractor driver".

After the Second World War, Lower Saxony was formed on November 1, 1946 from the states of Hanover, Braunschweig, Oldenburg and Schaumburg-Lippe.
Weil reminded of the great development of the formerly rather poor country.
Also in northern Germany there has never been peace as long as in 75 years of Lower Saxony.
For the actual anniversary, a ceremony is to take place on November 1st in Hanover.
