New easing of the corona pandemic will apply before the weekend.

Hanover - The people in Lower Saxony can prepare for visiting Christmas markets.

The state government initiated a correspondingly amended Corona state ordinance on Thursday.

It should come into force on Friday, as announced by the State Chancellery in Hanover.

If you want to eat or drink something at an autumn or Christmas market, you have to be vaccinated, recovered or tested.

According to the information, this also applies to the use of rides.

This does not apply to children and young people under the age of 18.

There are several options for the operators of Christmas markets to check the status of those who have been vaccinated, recovered or tested: According to the ordinance, the area can be provided with central entrances and exits.

Ribbons or stamps, which visitors can pick up at a stand, may also suffice as proof.

The third option is to be checked by the staff directly at the stands.

If someone buys drinks or something to eat for several people, each of them must prove that he has been vaccinated, recovered or tested.

If the highest corona warning level were reached, the so-called 2G regulation would be mandatory and a negative test would no longer be sufficient.

The stands must be at least two meters apart, but exceptions are possible.

Food or drinks may not be sold in stalls that are closed on all sides.

Most of the time, anyone strolling through the market does not have to wear a mask.

The staff in the markets must be tested at least twice a week - unless they have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus or have recovered from Covid-19 disease.

“In order to minimize the risk of infection, we provide clear guard rails with the 3G rule.

At the same time, we enable local municipalities to make flexible and situation-adapted regulations, for example with regard to the distances between the stands or the question of monitoring visitors, ”explained Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD).

These aspects should certainly be assessed and organized differently at a small Christmas market in rural areas than at markets in metropolitan areas with thousands of visitors a day.

Schleswig-Holstein's students can also have themselves tested for Corona free of charge during the autumn holidays (October 4 to 16).

That goes in the test centers, but if necessary schools also provide test kits before the holidays, said Education Minister Karin Prien (CDU) on Thursday.

"The self-assessment after a negative Corona self-test then applies to schoolchildren like a test certificate from the test center."

Mask requirements could be relaxed for some students

Since the beginning of school in early September, all schoolchildren in Lower Saxony have had to wear a mask.

That could change in the future, at least for some.

Bayerische Bar only relies on 2G instead of 3G - and faces headwind: "Wish you bankrupt"

The Nuremberg “Café Bar Garage” will switch to the 2G rule from October 1st.

In other words: only those who have been vaccinated and recovered are allowed into the interior of the restaurant.

“It is good that the state government has listened to the criticism and that the first, completely impractical proposal is off the table.

But the new version also has weaknesses.

For example, we do not consider it necessary to prescribe 3G nationwide, ”said the health policy spokeswoman for the FDP parliamentary group, Susanne Schütz.

Every city has completely different requirements and implements an individual concept.

The Greens welcomed the decision in principle.

However, the state government is making it too easy for itself if it leaves all the difficult requirements to the municipalities and the operators of the stands, said the health policy spokeswoman for the state parliamentary group, Meta Janssen-Kucz.

"The option that evidence of corona vaccination, recovery or tests in the crowd can be checked directly at the stands does not seem realistic."

There was good news on Thursday not only for Christmas markets, but also for organizers and especially football clubs: If only vaccinated and recovered people are allowed access to an event, the upper limit of 25,000 spectators will no longer apply from Friday.

If, for example, a football club only lets people vaccinated against the coronavirus or a Covid-19 infection into its stadium, more than 25,000 fans are allowed to enter the stadium again.

In Lower Saxony, for example, the stadiums of VfL Wolfsburg and Hanover 96 have corresponding sizes.

Anyone under the age of 18 or who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons can still attend the event.

There is also a small change for people who are not allowed to be vaccinated for medical reasons or because they have taken part in a clinical trial.

If you submit a negative test, a self-test under supervision will be sufficient for you in the future.

These tests can be bought at many pharmacies or drug stores.
