Under the combined influence of the northeast monsoon and the tropical cyclone "Lion Rock" in the South China Sea, local winds have gradually strengthened. The Observatory directly issued the No. 3 strong wind signal at 4:40 am today (8th).

The Observatory explained that the common effect does not occur every year, but it is not uncommon. The last time it was the tropical cyclone "Nangka" that affected Hong Kong last year.

The Observatory predicts that the strong wind signal No. 3 will be maintained for a period of time during the day.

The Observatory yesterday (7th) predicted that the tropical depression currently hovering more than 600 kilometers south-southwest of Hong Kong in the central part of the South China Sea will gradually intensify. It will begin to take a more northerly path today (8th), which is closer to Guangdong than previously predicted.
