In December 2020, a team of code breakers claimed they finally solved one of the mysterious coded messages the killer sent to the San Francisco Chronicle in 1969.

On the new tracks
CNN attempted to contact family members of the man The Casebreakers investigators identified as the alleged Zodiac Killer, now deceased, but was unsuccessful.
The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) confirmed to CNN that there is still an open investigation.
