A 42-year-old from Minden, who strangled his wife, who was 20 years younger than him, and who is said to have sunk her in the Weser, has stood before the Bielefeld district court.
A spokesman told the court that the man repeated and deepened the confession he had already made during the preliminary investigation at the start of the trial on Wednesday.
The public prosecutor has charged the German with manslaughter.
Bielefeld - the water police and fire brigade recovered the body of the 22-year-old woman from the Weser at the beginning of June.
Her husband was quickly suspected and placed in custody.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the background to the offense was allegedly the woman's intention to separate and an affair with another man that she had kept secret.
