For the first time, the SPD, Greens and FDP spoke about a possible joint government. Should it become more specific, the Jusos want to have a say. Among other things, they are concerned with »overcoming Hartz IV«.

After an initial joint meeting, the SPD, Greens and FDP now want to go deeper into the exploratory talks.

Should coalition negotiations then come about on a joint government alliance, the Jusos also want to have a say.

"If the content of the traffic light is to be negotiated after the explorations, the Jusos have to sit at the table," said the chairwoman of the SPD youth organization, Jessica Rosenthal, of the editorial network Germany (RND).

"For us, it is about social progress such as overcoming Hartz IV, as well as enforcing our youth policy demands."

The SPD, the Greens and the FDP spoke together for the first time on Thursday about the possible formation of the first traffic light coalition at the federal level.

Thereupon the secretaries general of the three parties announced in-depth talks for the coming week.

It is still unclear whether these will lead to coalition negotiations.

The SPD's exploratory team currently consists of Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz, party leaders Saskia Esken and Norbert Walter-Borjans, parliamentary group leader Rolf Mützenich, Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Malu Dreyer and Secretary General Lars Klingbeil. In the federal election, 49 social democrats of Juso age were also elected to parliament, which corresponds to almost a quarter of the members of the SPD parliamentary group.

After the first three-way conversation, Klingbeil expressed confidence about a possible traffic light coalition.

“As of today, I'm sure: it can work.

That is the spirit that prevailed in this conversation today, ”said Klingbeil on Thursday evening in the ARD“ Tagesthemen ”.

He is now assuming "that in the next week we will really make some progress in exploratory talks, that we will find a basis for tackling the major tasks of the future."

For the SPD he affirmed: "We want the traffic lights to come."
