In future, the following will receive a free rapid antigen test:

Children and adolescents who have not yet reached the age of twelve

Up to and including November 30th, 2021: Children and young people who have not yet reached the age of 18 as well as students at a Bavarian university on presentation of their student ID.

People who cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 due to a medical contraindication with presentation of a medical certificate.

Visitors to inpatient care facilities and facilities for people with disabilities with presentation of an authorization certificate.

The following groups of people receive a free PCR test in the test center

: People who have received a note as a possible contact person in the Corona warning app ("Increased risk") by presenting the note.

Contact persons who have been informed by the health department.

People who present a positive rapid test result.

Employees of inpatient care facilities, facilities for people with disabilities and outpatient care services on presentation of an authorization certificate.

Registration runs as usual via www.cov19screening.de or without an appointment directly on site.

How high the costs for a rapid antigen test or a PCR test for self-payers will be if the free tests are discontinued from Monday cannot be clearly answered at the moment. According to research by Bayern1 (Bayerischer Rundfunk), medical laboratories currently charge 128.23 euros nationwide for a desired PCR test, according to a spokesman for the professional association of German laboratory doctors.
