The Saarland Prime Minister Tobias Hans has welcomed the announcements by CDU leader Armin Laschet to reorganize the party.
Hans told the "Rheinische Post" (Friday) that this was important and correct "to spare us further agonizing internal party discussions".
"I would like to thank Armin Laschet for this step and his commitment to the CDU over the past few years."
Berlin - The Union did not convince the citizens in the Bundestag election either in terms of content or personnel.
"We must now draw the conclusions from this and realign and reposition ourselves." Laschet has cleared the way for this.
Now the Union must quickly “set the course again together and in consensus with our base at a party congress”.

At the start of the autumn plenary assembly of the German Bishops' Conference (DBK), its chairman Georg Bätzing called on people in Germany to take part in the federal election.
