Today, the National Center for Excellence in Tishreen University in Lattakia held the school programming competition for teams (collective track) for the year 2021 and is organized by the Syrian Scientific Olympiad Department in the Excellence and Creativity Authority.
Dr. Muthanna Al-Qabili, director of the center and the competition, explained in statements to SANA reporter that it includes pre-university students, and it is in two stages, the first of which focused on the distinguished in the field of information programming at the individual level, and today the focus has been on excellence as a team, and said, “We allowed each school to participate with a maximum of three teams The number of participating teams reached 55 from different governorates, with a total of 165 students, with the aim of preparing for the university stage and for an Arab competition for the school stage later.”
Abu Sandouq, head of the Scientific Committee for the Informatics Olympiad in the Excellence and Creativity Authority, said that the competition targets students from the fifth grade to the secondary stage in the field of informatics and includes several teams, each team consists of 3 people who participate in solving a group of problems on one computer within 4 hours related to programming and algorithms. These teams are from different schools from all over Syria, and the winning team will have a chance to participate in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in Informatics and to run for Arab and international competitions.
Ali Al-Riyahi, coordinator of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in Latakia, said, “We are looking for different and new paths for scientific excellence to reach wide segments of distinguished people in various fields. Today we are looking for individual excellence in scientific terms, in addition to teamwork within teams, and we aspire to reach global competitions collectively.”
The results will be announced and the winners of the first three places will be crowned during a ceremony at Al-Basel Coliseum at the Faculty of Science at Tishreen University today.
