The tropical cyclone "Lion Rock" unexpectedly brought Typhoon Signal No. 8 to Hong Kong today (9th). The wind is not over. The Observatory predicts that another storm that may become "Lion Rock 2.0" will hit next week.

The tropical cyclone "Compasses" intensified into a tropical storm this morning. It is expected to turn north and then west. It will hit the northern part of the South China Sea where Hong Kong is at the beginning of next week. It will approach the severe tropical storm from Tuesday (12th) to Wednesday (13th). The upper limit, passing within 400 kilometers south of Hong Kong, plus the "blessing" of the northeast monsoon, the Observatory predicts that next Tuesday it will blow fresh (level 5) north to northeast winds, offshore and highlands to reach the level of strong winds (6 To level 7), that is, the wind force of No. 3 typhoon; as the compass is closer to Hong Kong next Wednesday, it will blow fresh (level 6) east to northeast wind, offshore and highlands up to the degree of gale (level 8), namely wind No. 8 The wind is very windy and the rain is sometimes heavy, and the severe weather will be postponed to the Double Ninth Festival next Thursday (14th).

It is expected that the weather will be fine and dry during the day next Tuesday and there will be squally showers in the evening.

The nine-day weather forecast published by the Observatory at 4:30 pm shows that the "power" of tropical cyclone Lion Rock will be postponed to tomorrow, with fresh to strong winds from east to southeast (levels 5 to 6), and gales off shore and highlands at first. (Level 8), Miyun is accompanied by squally winds, showers and thunderstorms, showers gradually decrease during the day, and there are large waves and swells in the sea.

Compasses will intensify until the severe tropical storm moves westward to Hainan Island

The weather change next week is expected to be driven by the tropical cyclone compass.

The observatory’s tropical cyclone path probability forecast shows that compasses are expected to travel from the Northwest Pacific east of Luzon Island in the Philippines to the north of the South China Sea through the Luzon Strait to the west, and then to the west toward Hainan Island and pass through the waters south of Hong Kong.

Compasses intensified into a tropical storm at 8 o'clock this morning. The highest continuous wind speed near the center is 75 kilometers per hour, and it will gradually increase to a severe tropical storm. The Observatory predicts that the highest continuous wind speed near the center will be 105 kilometers per hour in the early part of Monday afternoon, and then it will pass through Luzon. As the strait enters the South China Sea, it is unlikely that it will land on Luzon first.

Compasses is expected to enter the 800-kilometer protection zone of Hong Kong from Monday evening to Tuesday morning. The maximum continuous wind speed near the center will increase to 110 kilometers per hour, which is close to the typhoon level (the highest continuous wind speed near the center is 118 kilometers per hour).

The observatory's compass approached about 500 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong on Tuesday afternoon, and then went rampant, infiltrating 400 kilometers south of Hong Kong from Tuesday night to the first half of Wednesday.

As it is expected to be "Western", Hong Kong will blow east to northeast winds. Under the combined influence of the northeast monsoon, the superimposed effect may make the compass become "Lion Rock 2.0".
