Regensburg - The problems with the planning for the renovation of the Wöhrdbad in Regensburg * now also have financial consequences.
A spokesman for the Regensburg municipal utility confirms that the initially estimated costs will rise to at least 7.5 million euros.
Originally, an investment volume of "around six million euros" was communicated.
At the end of August, the municipal utility was still assuming that it would be able to meet the originally planned budget.
Planning disaster at Wöhrdbad: Problems only admitted later
As already reported at the time, there was a rift in mid-July between the Austrian architectural office, which was entrusted with the renovation planning, and the Regensburg municipal utility.

The architecture office says that the cooperation was terminated due to non-payment, the municipal utility claims “poor performance”, for which money was withheld.

Such statements are not officially confirmed, but it was already clear at the time: The reopening of the popular Regensburg cult baths, originally planned for last summer, would be postponed by a year - to summer 2022. Only afterwards did the Stadtwerk admit that the problems with the architecture office were were responsible for it.

The good news: At least the deadline for reopening next summer is what the municipal utility wants to keep.
"Despite the extensive reworking, there is no question that the renovated Wöhrdbad will be able to open at the start of the outdoor pool season in the coming year," said a spokesman.
On the other hand, it is still unclear how high the cost increases that the planning problems entail will actually be in the end.
Manfred Koller, managing director of Stadtwerk GmbH, admitted to the city council at the end of September that the renovation would be more expensive.
But without giving any numbers.
"Perhaps the calculation was not so good," Koller's justification.
