Soon there will be another choice: In Geretsried 14 young people are available for the youth council.

In a round of introductions, they express precise wishes.

Geretsried - The juice shop team had provided a lot of chips, pretzel sticks and specialties.

But the interest in "Meet'n 'Talk" with the candidates for the new youth council was limited.

On Wednesday evening, 12 of the 14 applicants - two were unable to attend - presented themselves to the visitors in the youth center.

Moderator Dominik Stallein put the young men and women to the test.

Youth council candidates demand: More meeting places, more environmental protection

Three girls and eleven boys would like to represent the interests of their peers in their city in the new youth council by 2023.

Two of them - Sabrina Lorenz (21) and Isabella Schrills (20) - already did this in their previous term of office.

Around 2000 Geretsrieder between 14 and 22 years of age are called upon to cast their votes online from October 11th to November 9th.

Only twelve candidates can make the move.

Geretsried elects new youth council - candidates introduce themselves

Dominik Stallein, a volunteer at Isar-Loisachbote / Geretsrieder Merkur and, at the age of 26, not that far removed from the young people, did not want a rigid round of introductions.

He had the candidates briefly describe the person sitting next to them.

It turned out that the group already knows each other very well, which is not a bad prerequisite for a possible collaboration.

There had already been several meetings with city youth worker Julia Brandner and the youth officer of the city council, Felix Leipold.

Leipold was "happy that there were so many candidates".

Geretsried: Integration, a breath of fresh air, more activities - the wish list is long

It hadn't looked like it at first. But now there is a colorful mix of high school and high school students, high school students and trainees from all parts of the city to choose from. They state their goals on flyers, on the city's homepage and on Instagram. Because some of them are kept quite general (“integration”, “fresh wind in politics” or “more activities for children and young people”), Stallein asked. Yasar Gencer (19, automotive mechatronics technician), for example, wants to ensure that Stein also has a small exercise course like the one in the city forest. Most of all, he would like a punching bag. Mathis Tomsu (18, apprentice carpenter) wants to attract both newcomers and young people with a migration background with parties, raves and picnics. Tomsu thinks there are too many groups in the city.

Youth Council Geretsried: More environmental protection and more meeting places

Isabella Schrills (marketing student) knows from experience that the opinion of the youth council is important to the city council and the administration.

She wants young people to be able to contribute ideas to the upcoming general renovation of the middle school.

If they chose, the high school students Jonathan Kübler (15) and Dominik Schmid (16) would campaign for the reopening of the dirt park on the Böhmwiese.

More meeting places, possibly covered, in the urban area are important to all applicants.

Environmental protection is important to many.

So they want to create more flower meadows based on the model of the incumbent youth council and start collecting garbage.

Geretsried a cool city?

Opinions differ

When Stalleins asked whether Geretsried was a “young and cool city”, the candidates raised more green cards than red cards, but some of them definitely see room for improvement.

Dimitrij Leinert (16, middle school student) has no opportunities to go out in the evening.

Dominik Schmid Too many drivers drive too fast, especially in the 30s.

Regardless of who of the 14 applicants makes the leap to the youth committee - Rudi Mühlhans, managing director of the sponsoring association for youth and social work, expressed his respect to everyone: “It's great that you are running.

And if it doesn't work this time, just apply again the next time, if it's still age enough. "

All those responsible are now hoping for the highest possible voter turnout.

Because you can easily tick your boxes anywhere and anytime from your smartphone, this goal should be achievable.
