The General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest in Hama Governorate has allocated an area of 4,701 hectares for the cultivation of fodder and pasture crops as part of its plan for the next agricultural season.
The Director of Plant Wealth in the Authority, Engineer Wafiq Zaroof, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the plan for cultivating fodder and pastoral crops includes the cultivation of 4,525 hectares of irrigated and 176 hectares of rainfed, pointing out that the cultivation of these crops has increased significantly in recent years in the lands of the Al-Ghab area due to the low costs of production requirements and the availability of the appropriate environment. to be cultivated and there is a demand for their purchase by livestock breeders.
Zarouf pointed out that the most important fodder and grazing crops that are cultivated in the Al-Ghab area are the jalapeña, wild oats and forage wheat, and they are concentrated in the villages and towns of Jeb Ramleh, Shataha and Karnaz.
The area planted with fodder and pasture crops in the Al-Ghab region during the last agricultural season reached about 4,500 hectares.
