Despite the slightly increased number of guests this year, the youth hostels in Thuringia are currently seeing little light at the end of the Corona tunnel.
The financial aid paid for loss of income during the period of closed institutions was adequate, said the state manager of the German Youth Hostel Association (DJH), Peter Kraft, of the German press agency.
Lauterbach - "But the difficult time is the one after the end of the assistance, when the occupancy does not start again." For the currently 16 houses in Thuringia, it is not foreseeable how the mandatory testing for most unvaccinated people will affect the booking situation from Monday .

Restaurateurs in Saxony-Anhalt skeptical about the 2G option
According to a random survey by the German Press Agency, restaurateurs in Saxony-Anhalt are skeptical of the newly introduced 2G option model.

There is irritation here with potential overnight guests, which could deter them from bookings.
According to Krafts, youth hostels in the Free State are already implementing the 3G rule, according to which only vaccinated, convalescent and tested people are allowed to stay overnight.
The DJH regional association dealt with the current situation on Saturday in a general meeting in Lauterbach (Wartburg district).
This year, the facilities are hoping for a total of around 94,000 overnight stays, which would be a little better than 2020 (84,000).
That would still be a long way from the level of the pre-pandemic year 2019, when 251,000 overnight stays were booked.
According to the association's managing director, the pandemic contributed to the fact that the youth hostel in Schwarzburg (Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district) with 152 beds was closed at the end of last year.
The closure had already been discussed, said Kraft.
"Corona has accelerated that." At the end of 2021, the 56-bed house in Schnett near Masserberg (Hildburghausen district) is about to be closed.
