Exploitation of power and "false promise of marriage": the additional offenses of the murder suspect Yael Melnik

Police have asked for the detention of the psychiatric hospital brother to be extended by 15 days.

Police today (Sunday) requested that the detention of the brother of the psychiatric hospital suspected of murdering Yael Melnik be extended by 15 days.

In addition to the offense of murder, the central unit of the police attributes to the 49-year-old also the prohibited cause of the 17-year-old, taking advantage of power and while falsely promising marriage, as well as offenses of disrupting the investigation and violating the restraining order.

Her body was found last weekend when she was partially buried in the ground at a construction site in Kiryat Motzkin.

The girl moved to Carmiya boarding school just two days before her absence, and during her stay there she told the educational staff about a relationship she had with a brother at the Ma'ale HaCarmel Mental Health Medical Center in Tirat Carmel where she was hospitalized earlier this year, without reference.

The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. Friday-Saturday night.

A guard at the nearby construction site was convinced that the zoo staff, which is in close proximity to where the body was found, were burying an animal's carcass.

Suspecting that it was a human body, he called the police.

Melnick's friends said it was possible that what led the man to commit the act was that he was frightened that she said the two were having an affair.

His interrogation revealed that a restraining order had been issued against him from the girl, at the request of her grandmother, who served as her guardian while her parents were in Russia.

When the grandmother reported to the police, she gave the suspect's name.
