Following the theft via Beat: The company will not allow two accounts to be opened on the same card | Israel today

2021-10-10T13:37:09.183Z

Over the weekend it became clear to the Beat customer that he was charged thousands of shekels without using the app • The theft was made possible "thanks" to the ability to open two Beat accounts on the same credit card • The company closed the option and returned the money to the user

Over the weekend, Gil (full name saved in the system), who uses the Beat app, received a laconic message from Beat, in which he was told that someone at that moment had signed up for Beat with his identifying details, and a recommendation was attached to contact customer service because it was incorrect.

The message arrived before the end of the weekend and Gil was unable to contact customer service which was not available at the time, so he thought of waiting for the start of the week.

But it was not long before Gil received a notice of two consecutive charges of NIS 3,200 (the transfer limit he apparently had) without using the app at all.

The story was published on Facebook and a few hours later, the information also reached Beat - when the CEO himself addressed the issue both by addressing the angry customer, as well as by contacting the company's customers when he said: "This is an app that is backed by a bank For user details.

When entering a credit card in the app, we check the match between the user's ID card and the credit card and inform the user if his identification information is used.

"Every case of fraud is handled by us to the satisfaction of the customers, and it will always be so."

Mabit was told in Israel today: "No burglary was committed to the Beat app, but it is a case of misuse of credit card information and stolen ID. It has not been hacked and of course no one has access to the details of its users. When opening a new account in Bit, the app performs a number of security checks, including checking the compatibility between the credit card and ID and in case of another bit account to an existing customer, also updates the account holders immediately and blocks Possibility to work in the new account.

In any case, we immediately handle any customer complaint until to his complete satisfaction.

In case of any question or concern, we recommend contacting us by phone * 6428 or on our Facebook page and in any case we repeatedly urge our customers not to give the credit card to anyone and in the event of a card theft update the credit card company hotline immediately.

We reiterate that every customer will be treated to his complete satisfaction. "

Following the incident, and apparently a few more cases in which this has already happened - have blocked Bit from the weekend the possibility of opening two bit accounts based on the same credit card.

The assessment at Beat is that the customer's credit card information was stolen and through them another Beat account was opened in his name with the same credit card - which made this loophole possible, which as stated was blocked from now on.
