Gladiators bring pirates to their knees

The Erding Gladiators returned home from Buchloe yesterday evening with three points. Until shortly before the end the game was evenly balanced, but in the last 159 seconds the guests turned a 3: 3 into a 6: 3 (1: 1, 1: 1, 4: 1).

The Erding Gladiators returned home from Buchloe yesterday evening with three points.

Until shortly before the end the game was evenly balanced, but in the last 159 seconds the guests turned a 3: 3 into a 6: 3 (1: 1, 1: 1, 4: 1).

Buchloe / Erding - Erding's coach Thomas Vogl is really not to be envied at the moment, because with Basti Cramer another player was dropped compared to Friday.

This time Patrick Mayer got a chance in goal, who had kept the day before in the U20's 4-2 derby win in Dorfen first class (see report below).

He offered a very strong game.

As on Friday at 2: 8 against Schongau, the Gladiators also took an early lead in Buchloe.

After great preparatory work by Mark Waldhausen, Sebastian Busch sank the puck to make it 1-0 after just 105 seconds of play.

And like on Friday, the tour did not last very long.

When Rudi Lorenz received a two-minute penalty, he was allowed to go back on the ice after 59 seconds, because the Czech Michal Petrak set off from his own third, drove almost unrestricted through the Erdinger ranks and finished ice-cold to 1: 1 ( 7.).

In contrast to Friday, the Erdinger accepted the fight this time and held against it.

They survived another short number unscathed, but there was relatively little progress because the decisive pass into the top did not come.

And then suddenly the gladiators were behind.

Just 40 seconds were played in the middle third, when a shot from Alexander Krafczyk hit the Pirates 2-1.

A book loer had previously intercepted the puck in the neutral zone, immediately passed into the tip, and the striker did not miss this chance.

But slowly the gladiators became more alert and put a little more pressure on the pirates.

If there was a triple chance, the equalizer seemed due, but a shot from Lorenz landed on the crossbar and the two follow-up shots from Michael Trox and Timo Borrmann were able to fend off ESV goalkeeper Johannes Wiedemann.

In the 25th minute, however, the time had come.

The gladiators were outnumbered, were in good shape, and after a pass from Busch, Waldhausen heaved the puck into the goal to make it 2-2.

The game also remained exciting in the final third.

In the 51st minute, Busch prevailed on the gang and served in an exemplary manner for Babic, who had no trouble making it 3-2.

But the Pirates came back again: Peter Brückner overcame Keeper Mayer a good three minutes before the end to make it 3: 3.

But then the gladiators turned it up again, and just 31 seconds later Daniel Krzizok poked the puck over the line to make it 4: 3.

Buchloe took the goalkeeper off the ice, but a back pass from an ESV player landed the puck to make it 3: 5 in the ESV network.

Because there are officially no own goals in ice hockey and goalkeeper Mayer was the last Erdinger on the puck, the goal was well written for him.

And when, seven seconds before the end, Timo Borrmann ingeniously sank the puck into the empty ESV goal with an arc lamp, the 6: 3 success was perfect.
