Likud tensions: "Fear that MKs will defect to coalition" | Israel Today

2021-10-10T20:36:50.792Z

The party is worried that elements in the coalition, led by Gideon Saar, will try to transfer MKs to them after the budget is approved. No chance "and" amusing to deny "

Maybe because of the free time, maybe because of the opposition desert and maybe because of the familiar temperament of the party - among the Likud members is not quiet.

Party members fear that the coalition's next step is to recruit members of the Likud to "switch sides," and there are those who name names and mark "potential suspects" for leaving.

Likud members are convinced that the coalition's next step is to put very heavy pressure on Likud members to resign from the party and join the government.

"This is the first thing the coalition will do after the budget passes," say Likud officials. "While the alternative is a dull opposition. They will talk to them about the end of the Likud era, about the fact that instead of disappearing, they can join the government and become leading figures in Israeli politics."

Likud members are convinced that Gideon Saar has been planning such a move for a long time: "Only last July did he pass the law that allows four MKs to split from their faction, even if they are not a third of it. It was not just, that is a goal. Saar is a Likud member, he still has "Ties and friends there. This coalition is desperate for more fingers, it can not continue to function on the tip of a voice for long. They owe more fingers. With Smutrich and the joint they have no chance. Their only option is the Likud, and they will work on it with all their might."

If it is an "attempted assassination" intended to tarnish the name of MKs from the Likud, and if it is an attempt to thwart such a shaky departure, Likud officials point to possible and poignant retirees by their names: David Bitan, Haim Katz and Etty Atia.

According to a Likud source, "Do not forget that Bitan and Haim Katz are very close friends of Saar. Bitan even tried to offer proposals for Saar in the Likud coalition negotiations.

The party estimates that the coalition will exert very heavy pressure and try to find one more MK to complete the law that allows four MKs to resign from the party.

According to the Likud source, "True, this sounds like a disturbed and imaginary scenario, but we have already seen clear Likud members like Saar or Elkin take their feet and walk away. Israeli politics has taught us that anything is possible."

Etty Attia.

"The Likud is my home,"

Bitan responded: "Nonsense, a delusional invention."

Katz responded: "There is no chance that I will leave the Likud."

Atia responded: "It amuses me even to deny it. The Likud has been my home since I was a girl in the movement's branch in Lod. There is no substitute, and experience shows that everyone who left home was very sorry about it."
