Merkel in Israel: The Chancellor visited Yad Vashem with Prime Minister Bennett
On her last visit to Israel during her tenure, Merkel visited the Holocaust Remembrance Center for the sixth time.
The visit was also attended by the center's chairman Danny Dayan and the center's council chairman, Rabbi Israel Meir Lau.
At the end of the tour, she signed the official guest book of Yad Vashem.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the Yad Vashem Center today (Sunday) to commemorate the Holocaust.
During Merkel's sixth visit to the site, Yad Vashem Chairman Danny Dayan and Yad Vashem Council Chairman Rabbi Israel Meir Lau were also present.
Bennett said after the visit: "In my opinion, the most important thing in the lessons is the most obvious and simple of all: the place of the Jewish people is on their land, here in the Land of Israel" The
Prime Minister added: "But Auschwitz, our brothers and sisters who were lost there, strengthens our determination never to be defenseless again, far from his homeland."

During their visit to Yad Vashem, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor visited the "Flashes of Memory" exhibition, which features photographs from the Holocaust period, as well as the Museum of Holocaust Art.
Later, the leaders were presented with the new Holocaust Heritage Campus, which is currently under construction, as well as objects that will be preserved there and originate in Hamburg, Germany - Merkel's hometown.
At the end of the tour, the two met with Holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Poner. Bennett and Merkel also participated in a state memorial service at the Ohel Yizkor, which Chancellor Merkel signed at the official Yad Vashem guest book.
