Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has decided to close the airspace to French military planes during Operation Barkhane and to recall the Algerian ambassador to Paris.
And this in retaliation for the division by two of the visas granted to Algerians and the declarations of Emmanuel Macron on the
“tired politico-military system”
which rules Algeria and on the
“memorial rent based on hatred of France”
which it takes the place of legitimacy.
The lasting glaciation of relations between Paris and Algiers constitutes a new failure of Emmanuel Macron's diplomacy.
His relaunch of the memorial dialogue around Benjamin Stora's report and the confidence and cordiality he showed to President Tebboune were considered as so many admissions of weakness.
They led to the blocking of all bilateral questions, from the consular pass with a rate of execution of the obligations to leave French territory of 0.2% to the status of investments in passing.
