On Sunday night, several houses in three places in the Lahn-Dill and Vogelsberg districts burned and caused almost one million euros in damage.
A fire in an apartment building in Solms-Albshausen (Lahn-Dill district) resulted in damage of 500,000 euros, the police in Giessen said on Sunday.
The top floor was burned out and the whole building was no longer habitable.
Giessen / Fulda - Nobody was injured in the fire.
In Dietzhölztal, also in the Lahn-Dill district, three other houses burned on Saturday evening, according to police reports.
Since the buildings were very close together, the flames would have spread from one house to the other two.
Two of the three houses are no longer habitable.
None of the seven residents were injured.
The third house was empty.
The police estimate the damage at around 350,000 euros.
Also in Lauterbach-Wallenrod (Vogelsbergkreis) a house was in flames on Saturday evening.
According to the police, there was a fire in both parts of the ground floor and the upper floor.
Nobody was injured by the fire because none of the residents were at home at the time of the fire.
The damage amounts to around 100,000 euros.

Cause of fire in Harburg unclear: victim identified
One day after the house fire in Hamburg-Harburg with two dead, the cause of the fire is still unclear.
The identity of the victims, however, has now been clarified, said a police spokeswoman on Monday.
It was a 49-year-old and a 45-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, said the spokeswoman.
The 49-year-old was found dead by firefighters in the apartment on the ground floor, the 45-year-old died when he jumped out of a window on the second floor.
Cause of fire in Harburg unclear: victim identified
In all three cases, the cause of the fire is still unclear.
