In appreciation of the sacrifices of their children, Tartous Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs in the Governorate’s General Secretariat, today honored 241 martyrs’ families and awarded them the Medal of Sincerity in the hall of the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous.
The honoring ceremony, which was held on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the October Liberation War, included the screening of a short film entitled “On this land, we do not die,” which dealt with the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army, the greatness of their families’ stances and their pride in their sacrifices, and the journey of treating a number of wounded and following their normal lives. Major General Bassam Kamel Berri, Director of the Affairs of the Wounded and Missing at the Ministry of Defense, stressed in his speech that the martyrs who protected the homeland have become today a model of sacrifice and redemption, indicating that these medals of sincerity are given to those who gave the most precious to keep the homeland protected. It will be the key to victory for every inch of our dear homeland, because they are written in letters of the light of the glory of Syria.
Director of Tartous Endowments Abdullah Al-Sayed gave a speech in which he emphasized that martyrdom is a national, moral and social message that we should look at with loyalty, pointing to the great sacrifices made by the Syrian Arab Army throughout its history.
Ghinwa Hassan, director of the Office of Martyrs and Missing Persons in the General Secretariat of Tartous Governorate, said in a press statement that during today's event, 241 families of martyrs who were martyred between 2015 and 2016 were honored, in appreciation of their sacrifices and as a token of loyalty to their families.
The father of the martyr, Captain Ahmed Ali Hassan, one of the heroes of Aleppo Central Prison, gave a speech to the families of the martyrs, in which he spoke about the will of his son and his heroic companions during the siege period, thanks to which they were able to overcome and defeat terrorism. .
The honoring was attended by the Governor of Tartous Safwan Abu Saadi, the Secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party branch, Muhammad Habib Hussein, and official and popular events.
