The investigation into the murder case
of the
late Little Yael Melnik continues:
In a hearing held today (Sunday) in the Magistrate's Court in Haifa, the detention of the suspect in the murder of the 17-year-old girl was extended.
The police requested that the suspect's detention be extended by seven days, and to the arrest request, which was submitted by the police prosecution representative, were added offenses of violating a court order, obstruction of justice and a minor cause.
The suspect's defense attorney, Boris Sherman of the Public Defender's Office, responded: "There was no power relationship, but a love affair between the suspect and the deceased. He did not cause her death, and denies the suspicions against him. His situation is very difficult and complex. He loved her and did not hurt her. "Shalev, who is under a restraining order, has been handed over to the police and the court. We are sure that after all the details are checked, the suspect will be released to his home."
As you may recall, last week Little Yael Melnik from Or Akiva was reported missing from the boarding school where she stayed in the south of the country.
The suspect, a city resident who works at a psychiatric center in the north, was questioned by police.
According to the suspect, the suspect murdered Melnik after she told him that she had revealed to an acquaintance about the romantic relationship between them.
An acquaintance of the grandparents told "Israel Today" that they do not digest what happened.
