The government will convene today (Monday) for a short meeting, which was postponed for a day due to the German Chancellor's visit to Israel, and at its center will be the confirmation of R.'s appointment as the next GSS chief.
The government will also approve at the meeting appointments in the Foreign Service and the Innovation Authority.
The appointment of R., who until recently was deputy head of the service, is possible after the advisory committee examining appointments to senior positions headed by retired judge Eliezer Goldberg approved his candidacy on Friday.
The senior appointments committee stated that "after examining the information presented to it, the committee did not find a defect in the purity of the candidate R., and did not find a defect in terms of the purity of the virtues in the considerations that formed the basis of the decision to appoint him."
The head of the General Security Service, Nadav Argaman, welcomed the committee's decision and said: "I believe in R.'s honesty and firm values and I am convinced that he will lead the General Security Service professionally, while maintaining the stateliness and values of the organization."

R. (55), married and a father of three, won the GSS presidency over another, promoted to the position of deputy head of the service. In the Operations Unit.
As part of his many years of service, he fought and commanded many operations in Gaza, Judea and Samaria and Lebanon.
In 2011 he was appointed head of the GSS Operations Division, in 2016 he was appointed head of the headquarters division responsible for the organization's power building, and in 2018 he was appointed deputy head of the service, a position he has held for the past two and a half years.
