World Girls' Day: Landmarks shine in pink

Whether the pier in Sellin, the Chocolate Museum in Cologne or the Sankt-Petri-Kirche in Hamburg: For World Girls' Day, well-known buildings and landmarks are shining in pink in numerous German cities this evening. With this campaign, the children's rights organization Plan International wants to draw attention to the lack of equal rights worldwide. In many countries, children, especially girls, are legally disadvantaged.

Hamburg - To point this out, the United Nations has declared October 11th as World Girls' Day.

The day of action initiated by Plan International was celebrated for the first time in 2012.
