Falling in love, getting engaged and getting married - Emma and Adolf Weide designed the beginning of their life together, all in order and in good order.

And they have been walking it for 60 years now.

They report that there has been some arduous journey along the way.

But together it went on and on.

Fürstenfeldbruck - The journey together began at a carnival ball in the spring of 1959. “Dancing was just a good opportunity to get to know each other,” says the now 83-year-old husband.

People liked each other, and pleasure turned into sympathy and love.

They like to remember that they could celebrate their wedding in the monastery church.

"In a small circle, only with parents and closest relatives."

Emma and Adolf Weide share their Sudeten German homeland.

However, they found their way to Bruck in very different ways.

The now 82-year-old wife came to the vicinity of Egenhofen with her parents and three siblings after the Second World War.

In 1953 the family built the house in Bruck in which the couple lives today.

In the district town she also worked as a seamstress until 1990.

Her husband had to deal with more detours: resettled in 1945, he made stops in Ulm and Bayreuth, among other places, and joined the Bundeswehr as a volunteer in 1956.

“That was a good basis for looking for a job in Munich,” recalls Adolf Weide, who first learned to be a machine fitter and then switched to an engine mechanic.

He made up his secondary school leaving certificate in evening classes, and he also trained as a technician.

Neither of them have what is commonly called a hobby. “If you have a house and a garden, you don't need a hobby,” emphasizes Emma Weide. There is a lot of individual work going on in their shared home. But for a long time there was a shared passion. Adolf Weide came to Schützen at Bavaria Maisach in 1965. Just one year later he became athletic director and remained so for 22 years. His wife joined in 1967. Adolf Weide was still actively shooting until the beginning of the corona pandemic.

Both are accompanied by a loyal companion: Mowgli, a 16-year-old almost completely black cat.

The couple have taken the animal firmly in their hearts.

“He needs us a little and we need him a little,” says Emma Weide, smiling a little.

Give each other company and community.

Just like Emma and Adolf have always managed together in 60 years of marriage.
