Today, the Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda Governorate approved a plan to plant 8,190 dunums of the lentil crop for the next agricultural season.
The Assistant Director of Agriculture, Engineer Alaa Shehayeb, told SANA reporter that lentil cultivation in As-Suwayda is rain-fed and begins during the month of January and is concentrated in the Shahba region and parts of the western As-Suwayda region.
It is noteworthy that As-Suwayda Governorate produced about 48 tons of lentils last season, and the previous season 301 tons.
