Almost two hours after the complete closure was set up, the bridge had to be opened to traffic again in the morning in order to guarantee the accessibility of the island. After three hours, the experts could have resumed the planned work on the bridge's traffic control system at around 1.30 p.m., said a spokesman for the State Office for Road Construction and Transport in Rostock.
According to a police spokeswoman, there was an accident that morning on the Rügen dam, the old road to the island.
According to the previous investigations, a car had come into the opposite lane and collided with another car, which in turn collided with another vehicle.
Three car occupants were injured, one of them seriously.
According to the police, the vehicles were no longer ready to drive and were removed.
The Rügen dam was said to have been closed in both directions for about three hours.
