Border fighter wounded in attack on Jewish rioters near Yitzhar | Israel Today

Israeli Border Police fighters this evening (Monday) worked to evacuate a tent in an outpost in a closed military area near Yitzhar.

During the operation, riots developed at the site, as a result of which a Border Police fighter was lightly wounded.

At the end of the activity when the forces left the area, a number of rioters threw rocks and bottles of paint at the forces.

As part of the riot, a stone was thrown at a Border Police vehicle, which shattered the window of the car as a result of which a Border Police fighter was lightly injured by the shards of glass.

Also, on the exit route of the forces, irons were found that were intended to impair the mobility of the forces.

The fighters responded by dispersing demonstrations.

During the riots, three Border Police vehicles were damaged. The fighter turned to the military doctor for medical treatment.

The Chief of General Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, announced that he strongly condemns the violence against Border Police fighters near the town of Yitzhar tonight.

The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, stated in response to the attack on Border Police soldiers in Yitzhar that:

In both cases it is a crime that has developed after too many years in which governance has been abandoned to criminal fringe elements.

"In Yitzhar, too, the settlers who think they are allowed to challenge the governance of the State of Israel and raise a hand against those in uniform must treat the settlers with uncompromising determination."
