Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro plays down Corona, is not vaccinated against Covid-19 and repeatedly shows himself in public without a mask.
Now he has complained in a video message that he was not allowed to attend a football game.
The first division match between Santos and Grêmio was therefore not allowed to see Bolsonaro in the stadium because unvaccinated people are not allowed there.
"I wanted to see the Santos game now and they told me that I had to get vaccinated," Reuters quotes the president, referring to a video from the Metropoles news portal.
The game was Santos' first since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic that allowed fans to enter the stadium.
The association apparently insisted that only vaccinated people or people with a negative PCR test have access.
All fans have to adhere to hygiene rules
It is unclear whether Bolsonaro actually tried to go to the game or whether his complaint was a general one.
A spokesman for Santons said the club had not been contacted from within the ranks of the president.
But all fans would have to adhere to the hygiene regulations.
The right-wing populist Bolsonaro played down the corona virus from the start and rejected protective measures and restrictions.
He also doubts the point of vaccinations.
Bolsonaro has emphasized several times that he has not yet been vaccinated against Corona.
A parliamentary committee of inquiry into his government's corona crisis management is running.
In July last year, Bolsonaro infected himself with the corona virus.
More than 600,000 people have so far died in Brazil after being infected with Covid.
Recently, thousands of people protested against Bolsonaro's government in numerous Brazilian cities.
Among other things, they are calling for Bolsonaro to be impeached, more vaccines against the coronavirus and jobs in times of the pandemic.
