Cranes on their way to their winter quarters are currently moving across Hesse in droves again.
"Over 50,000 cranes flew south in sunny weather with an easterly wind at the weekend," reported Gerhard Eppler, the state chairman of the Hesse Nature Conservation Union (Nabu), according to a message from Monday in Wetzlar.
Nature lovers expect a total of up to 250.

The Nabu called for crane observations to be reported online on the website www.Kranich-Hessen.de.
