- The wild boar was a huge cattle that haunted the Neumarkt district of Pölling on Saturday morning and seriously injured a cyclist on his fast tour through the Upper Palatinate town. Resident Peter Ochsenkühn was looking out of his window around 8 a.m. when he saw the cyclist still on the saddle. Suddenly he made a few swings: "He drove into the field there, I thought to myself: What is that about?"
It was a life and death struggle.
The cyclist, who had been on his morning tour, was attacked several times by a highly aggressive wild boar, probably even by a boar.
“Then I saw the wild boar,” says Ochsenkühn.
“It attacked the man six or seven times.
He screamed so, he really fought for his life. ”Ochsenkühn and several residents came to the injured person's aid immediately.

Victims alerted the fire brigade commander by mobile phone
Marcus Mertl, commander of the fire brigade in Pölling, was alerted by the wild boar victim via mobile phone. He jumped into the car and was at the field two minutes later. “The injured person was lying on the ground and was being looked after by several first aiders.” Blankets had been brought in to warm the cyclist, who was writhing in pain but was responsive. The fire brigade commander immediately saw that there was a major injury to the lower extremities. "I opened my trousers with the clothes scissors." There was an initial gap on the thigh of the seriously injured man and the bleeding could be stopped by ligating the thigh. The helpers discovered another major injury, on the side of the upper body. This was covered in sterile conditions, then the ambulance service came to transport the cyclist to a hospital.
