Wörth - Plea for local climate protection: On the initiative of the Green Councilor Petra Schletter, young people from Fridays For Future have now been given the opportunity to present their ideas at the meeting of the Wörth municipal council.
In their competent and well-prepared lecture with PowerPoint presentation, the 22-year-old Felix Browarzik from Erding, the 18-year-old Lena Börner from Unterschwillach and the 16-year-old Carlotta Döll from Hörlkofen developed approaches such as Wörth to completely switch to a renewable energy supply by 2035 could be.
The construction of solar systems on and on all public buildings was an important point. The municipality of Wörth is already "a good role model", said Lena Börner. In the area of building and housing policy, Felix Browarzik pointed out that 83 percent of the current building stock will still be there in 2050. It is therefore important to ensure compliance with higher energy standards, to increase renovation rates and to promote photovoltaic or solar thermal systems. A climate-friendly settlement development, space-saving construction and models such as multi-generation houses were further considerations. One can also build in a climate-friendly way in Wörth. “It's in your hand,” said Felix Browarzik.
Motorized individual transport should be limited with regard to the high CO2 emissions and local public transport should be comprehensively expanded.
This requires investments in a punctual, widely networked public transport network with a high cycle rate and low tariffs for all users, as well as the gradual electrification of public transport.
The Hörlkofenerin Carlotta Döll explained emphatically how difficult it is to use public transport in the country and urgently wished “that a few more buses would run”.
Bicycle traffic should be expanded, even if it is “not easy” to get a reason for cycle paths.
“But it would still be great to try!” Lena Börner appealed to those present.
In their closing remarks, the young people emphasized that they had been very pleased about the invitation.
Mayor Thomas Gneißl (ÜPWG) thanked the trio “for the extremely professional contribution” far from “fantasies” and promised them to keep in touch.
