After three and a half years there is finally a youth room again in the community of Anzing.

The rush was enormous from the start.

Anzing

- at the beginning of 2018 the need was great.

There was an urgent need for kindergarten places in Anzing.

A solution was found by converting the youth room in the basement of the kindergarten by the sports center and designing it as a room for kindergarten children.

That was three and a half years ago.

A difficult time for the young people who were once affected.

One wanted to compensate halfway for the loss of permanent residence by preparing a construction trailer as a new contact point for the adolescents.

At the beginning, it worked well, recalls community youth worker Alexandra Peter.

The meetings were well received.

Up to 20 young people came together regularly.

But the trailer project only lasted a good eight weeks;

until Corona came and suddenly there was nothing left for young people.

Youth club “Das Anzinger”: 80 young people come straight to the opening

In the meantime, the situation in the childcare sector has changed.

The additionally created group room was no longer necessary, so the local council decided to reactivate the youth room.

Alexandra Peter was something of a pacemaker here.

Her philosophy: it is better to start in autumn now than in the winter months.

Last Thursday the time had come.

According to her estimates, around 80 young people came to the first official opening day in the club “Das Anzinger”, as the new name is.

And all of this without any noteworthy advertising in advance.

What is particularly remarkable from the point of view of the youth nurse: She is not a lone fighter in the background, but can currently look forward to a “super team” of young people.

A team, as she says, that goes through all age groups.

Modest start - expansion of the offer possible

For the time being, the “Anzinger” starts out small and modest;

every Thursday from 4 p.m.

Boys and girls from nine years of age can then stay at the open meeting until 7 p.m., those over 14 years old can stay together until 9 p.m., later maybe longer.

It is quite possible that the Thursday offer will be followed by other offers in the foreseeable future.

But not as quick fixes, as Alexandra Peter emphasized when asked by the local newspaper.

She still attaches great importance to the fact that the open youth work at Anzinger Treff (she doesn't like the term youth center because it sounds too educational to her) is based on solid foundations.

The operator of the "Anzinger" is for the time being and until further notice the community youth care.

But just in such a way that committed young people can get involved in the business.

The youth club is not a self-administered company.

"But maybe that can still develop", the youth worker looks optimistically into the future.
