An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale rocked the US Alaska Peninsula today.
Reuters quoted the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center as saying in a statement that the earthquake struck at a depth of 75 km, without giving further details.
Alaska is located above the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where tectonic plates meet, and the friction of which leads to strong seismic and volcanic activity.
