Two men fled customs officials on a construction site in Bochum because they did not have a work permit.
A man hid in the basement, the other climbed over a fence and tried to escape into the forest, as the customs announced on Monday.
The officers discovered both men and temporarily arrested them.
Bochum - According to customs, the refugees between the ages of 24 and 33 did not have a “residence permit for taking up employment in the Federal Republic of Germany”.
According to the main customs office in Dortmund, criminal proceedings are being initiated against the men on suspicion of illegal residence.
The employer must also expect legal consequences.
