Parents are still waiting: The Ministry of Health will decide on the "green garden" next week Israel today

Conditions for exemption from isolation also in kindergartens: logistical readiness and epidemiological approval • Ministry of Education: Ready to go, subject to availability of tests • Corona Supervisor: "We will wait for the pilot to end and there will be no excess morbidity"

Parents are waiting for the expansion of the green classroom: the project that reduces the days of isolation in educational institutions is also expected to reach kindergartens aged 6-3 next week, having so far operated only in elementary schools.

The move will be implemented if the pilot done in the schools is crowned as a success - but may encounter some difficulties and objections.

The implementation of the plan requires two conditions: one - logistical, which is related to the ability to issue tests to parents, while the other - an epidemiological decision.

The Ministry of Education announced yesterday that they are ready to implement the green classroom in kindergartens as well, depending on the availability of test kits - and as they arrive this week, kindergartens will gradually accept them.

However, as mentioned, the application of the project in kindergartens also involves an epidemiological decision that must be made by the Ministry of Health when the pilot ends next week.

There are elements in the Ministry of Health who oppose expanding the move - and on the other hand, Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton is pushing it.

In the end, the decision will be made by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

The Ministry of Health stated yesterday that there is currently no change in the pilot, and that until it is completed no other decision is expected.

They explained that there is a difference between classrooms where students sit with masks and in fixed places, and between kindergartens, where it is difficult to maintain social distance and children do not wear masks.

Corona projector Prof. Salman Zarka: "As long as we make a decision that is right, we will expand to more classrooms and kindergartens. We hope the pilot will succeed. The goal is to maintain a routine without harming health."

He added: "We will distribute the tests to the local authorities' emergency warehouse and they will be distributed to the kindergartens and parents, who will check the children in the green kindergarten we are referring to next week. But first we will finish the pilot and there will be no excess morbidity."

Another issue that is likely to be a struggle is the fact that the exemption from isolation for students is valid only for studies, after-school programs (grades 1-2) and transportation.

That is, the exemption from isolation for students prohibits them from attending classes during this period (a week when they are supposed to be in isolation), going to the mall, meeting friends and more.

It is possible that when the pilot ends, the facilitation will apply and the students in the program will be able to participate in classes and reach shopping centers - but not at mass events.
