The initiators of the referendum against the planned senior citizens' home in Ambach have collected 431 signatures.

On Friday, Anatol Regnier, Agnete von Specht and Alexandra Theiss handed over the 134-page pack to Mayor Michael Grasl (Free Voters) in the town hall.

Münsing - The number of signatures is easily enough for the municipal council to discuss whether or not to allow a referendum in which all eligible voters can vote on the project.

329 signatures, i.e. ten percent of the 3,297 eligible voters in Münsing, were required.

As reported, the opponents want the “Kuratorium Wohnen im Alter” (KWA) to build smaller than planned.

With the previous construction volume of the abandoned, former Wiedemann Clinic, it should remain on the site so that no more soil is sealed than before.

The list of signatures literally says: "Are you in favor of the Münsing community in the construction control procedure (...) allowing at most a buildable area and the enclosed space corresponding to the development of the former Wiedemann Clinic and modifying the existing development plan accordingly?" Author Anatol Regnier explained on Friday, the signatories from all 13 districts of Münsingen had made it clear with their signature "that they share our concern for the ecologically and planning-sensitive, former clinic premises and its surroundings and reject over-building development".

City hall chief Grasl said that the request will first be checked formally and in terms of content for its admissibility by the municipality.

Michael Grasl is "disappointed" - now a referendum is about to start

Regardless of this, it is primarily the task of the planners to show whether the area comparisons between the former Wiedemann sanatorium and the planned senior citizen residence mentioned in the request are correct.

Grasl has his doubts about that.

The town hall chief told our newspaper that he was “disappointed” personally about the longstanding attitude of the project opponents.

They would completely ignore the advantages of the system.

The referendum is the first ever started in Münsing.

The initiators have a “good feeling” about the legal situation, they say.

They had obtained support from the association “More Democracy” and called in a lawyer who specializes in citizens' petitions.
