Not only in Bavaria’s schools are there going to be a presence again this autumn.

At universities, too, they dare to be a bit more normal - but only with 3G.

Munich - The lecture halls in Bavaria are filling up again.

The winter semester begins in October at many colleges and universities in Bavaria.

After three semesters at home, some students go to campus for the first time.

The universities are relying on 3G so that the lecture period can pass without being adversely affected by the corona pandemic *.

Corona in Bavaria: Colleges and universities are relying on presence again

For Science Minister Bernd Sibler (CSU), the high vaccination rate at the universities will ensure stable operations.

80 percent of the students were vaccinated, another ten percent recovered, the minister told the dpa on Monday.

The remaining ten percent would have to be tested regularly as part of the 3G regulation.

As of today (October 11th) the tests in Bavaria are no longer free.

Students get a reprieve until November 30th.

But then they too have to pay for their corona tests.

For student representatives, this means vaccination through the back door.

In order to check that all students follow the 3G rules, there should be spot checks, says Sibler.

Here one will check closely.

So far there have been no problems.

Of 4,000 students checked at the Deggendorf University of Technology, only seven people could not provide any evidence.

So far, the winter semester has already started at the universities of applied sciences and technical universities.

The universities will follow on October 18.

There are no uniform start dates for the art colleges.

Corona in Bavaria: Around 65,000 freshmen start the lecture period

A total of 409,000 students are currently enrolled in Bavaria.

For around 65,000 of them, their academic life begins this semester.

Sibler hopes that after three digital semesters everyone can come back to the universities.

Presence is what the course is all about.

In addition to acquiring knowledge and skills, it is also about friendships, networks and relationships on every level.

Very large lectures would often continue to be offered digitally.

The rule, however, will be presence, especially at smaller events.
