On Monday, the Berlin state election committee determined the second vote result of the federal election on September 26th in the capital.
Compared to the provisional result determined on election night, there were only minor changes, as announced by the state election committee.
According to this, the Berlin SPD got 23.4 percent of the second vote in the federal election, closely followed by the Greens (22.4 percent).
Berlin - The third strongest force was the CDU (15.9 percent), ahead of the Left (11.4 percent), the FDP (9.1 percent) and the AfD (8.4 percent).
The turnout was 75.2 percent.
In the elections to the Bundestag, the House of Representatives and the district council assemblies on September 26, numerous breakdowns and organizational deficiencies came to light. In some places, ballot papers were missing, while in other polling stations the wrong ones arrived at first. Queues in front of polling stations formed throughout the day, which is why in many cases voters cast their votes after 6 p.m. All of this had put Berlin in a bad light nationwide.
State Returning Officer Petra Michaelis had raised concerns about the correctness of the election in the election committee, which had resulted from reports of the district electoral committees and from other pronouncements, it said in the announcement.
She will also send the Federal Returning Officer a report on the circumstances surrounding the election.
The Federal Electoral Committee will decide on the final result of the Bundestag election on October 15.
