Kabul
A septic tank exploded and the alley which gives access to the houses has turned into a filthy and pestilential quagmire. The children find it funny and they drop stones to jump along the path. Adults don't find it all that fun, but obviously they are used to these everyday problems in this wet area of Kabul's 17th district. They apparently don't care, in the first place, who is in power: bearded jihadists or a president in Washington? Far from considering the possibility of knocking on the door of an embassy in an attempt to flee the country, they want above all a roof and food.Helping the most deprived segment of the Afghan population without giving a boost to the Taliban regime, which is still not officially recognized, is one of the main challenges facing the community.
