Baghdad-Sana
The High Commission for Legislative Elections in Iraq announced today the suspension of the Commission's website and the window for announcing the results of these elections.
The announcement came shortly after a press conference held by the Chairperson of the Commission in which he announced partial results of the public vote.
A source in the security committee supervising the elections, in a telephone conversation with a SANA reporter in Baghdad, attributed the reason for stopping to the strong turnout at the site and the window.
In turn, Commission Chairman Adnan Khalaf pointed out in a press conference, in which he revealed the participation rates in ten out of 18 governorates, to problems in transferring the funds of the eight governorates, including the capital, Baghdad, to the National Center for Counting and Sorting in Baghdad.
The Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq announced earlier today that the initial participation rate in the parliamentary elections that took place yesterday amounted to 41 percent.
