What do you think people look at the most when they enter your home?
About the furniture?
The pictures you chose to hang on the wall?
Maybe on the kitchen cabinets?
All of these and more intriguing questions were successfully answered by a new experiment conducted in the UK.
The experiment was initiated by a British price comparison site called Confused.com that used technology to track people's eye movements, and examined what they looked at most in each room of the house: living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, nursery and study, and also some Time looked at everything.
The results are very interesting and even surprising at times, but beyond that they have a meaning that can be very economical - for example for someone who wants to sell the house - where is it worth investing in upgrades?
To what places and items do people's eyes be drawn when they are impressed by a particular space?
Here are the results:

Living room
Leave the couch, invest in a coffee table and decorative pillows.

The main furniture and textile items were the ones that attracted the most looks: the coffee table, rug and decorative pillows won the highest numbers (over 100 looks).
The decorative pillows were in third place in terms of the number of looks, but they are the living room item that received the longest looks.
The items at the bottom of the list that attracted the least attention from people were: the TV itself and the furniture on which it rests, curtains and art pictures hung on the walls.
kitchen
Our immediate conclusion: be sure to clean the floor in the kitchen.

The kitchen is one of the most central spaces in the house and also the one where people invest the most money in renovating or upgrading it, so the question is particularly interesting which features in it attract the most attention?
Surprisingly, at the top of the list is the floor - the kitchen flooring has received the most views, the kitchen cabinets are only in second place (and with a gap of more than 100 views from first place), and in third place the kitchen sink.
The marble or countertop came in fourth with just 37 glances, followed by the windows, decorative siding, baking oven and lighting.
At the bottom of the list: pots and pans (hanging), flower pots and pictures.
Bedroom
Serious focus on textiles.

In the bedroom, it seems especially worth investing in textiles and the area if you want to make a good impression - at the top of the list with the most looks was the blanket spread out on the edge of the bed, followed by a dresser, windows, decorative pillows, bedspreads, reading lamps and sideboards.
The items that attracted the least interest in the bedroom were: art items, flooring and curtains.

Bathroom
People really like to look at themselves.
First place appearance in bathrooms (Photo: Official website, Confused.com)
Alongside the kitchen, bathrooms are another space in the home where people tend to invest a lot of money when it comes to design and renovation, and they are also considered an important factor that affects property pricing.
In the first place with the most looks: The mirror (177) - though, it's not clear if this is really such a design item as important in the bathroom as people just like to look in their reflection.
In second place - the main (and only) carpentry item in the room - the sink cabinet, which was also the item we looked at for the longest time.
The rest of the items are in descending order: sink, tile, toilet, bath, shower and window.
Even flower pots, if you have any in the bathroom, attract attention when they are in this room.
What seems less interesting to people in the bathroom, are: the lighting, the taps and the fixture of the toilet paper.

Study Room (Photo: Official Website, Confused.com)
Since the outbreak of the corona plague, many more people have started working from home, and if there is one thing people like to do during zoom calls, it is to peek over the shoulder of their colleagues and be impressed (as much as possible) by their home.
As a result, study rooms / home offices have once again become a space that gets attention in many homes, and here's what really interests people who visit them: the chair in the first place with 410 views, compared to only their poor 20 glances the desktop won.
Other items that have received a lot of attention are the computer screen, shelves, pictures (about the only room in the house where people do care what hangs on the walls, according to this survey) and the rug.
