Bangladesh has begun installing a significant component of its first nuclear power plant • Prime Minister Sina and Azad: "Thank you to Russia for its assistance, our nuclear capabilities will be used for peaceful purposes"

Unusual project in the Far East:

Bangladesh yesterday (Sunday) began installing a significant component of its first nuclear power plant, a pressure unit.

"This is a very significant and historic event," the Chinese Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Wazad, responded to what was happening at the Rufor power station in the western part of the Muslim country.

"The power plant will help us meet the growing need for energy," Vasad added.

"Bangladesh has become part of the nuclear world. It is for peaceful purposes, and that is important. The electricity will be generated at the power plant and will be supplied to every corner and every village across the country."

The power plant, located in the province of Fabana, is expected to start operating in 2023 and provide 1,200 megawatts.

However, the second unit at the power plant is expected to start operating only in 2024.

"I thank Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian company that is helping us build the nuclear power plant," the Bangladeshi prime minister concluded.

The same Russian company that Vazad was talking about is Rustam, a Russian government company that specializes in nuclear energy.

Russia is accompanying the venture at both the technical and economic levels.

Moscow is expected to be responsible for the disposal of nuclear waste, and is already transferring, in cooperation with India, an apprenticeship to Bangladeshis who are expected to work at the power plant.
